Use Rechargeable Batteries

Instead of buying single-use batteries that you need to recycle in a special way, buy rechargeable batteries and a charger. You probably use batteries for your wireless keyboard, mouse, remote controls, and maybe for camping gear like flashlights or fans. 

A battery charger will cost you $10-$20, and AA rechargeable batteries cost about $2 each. You want to buy enough batteries for all the devices you need and then double it , so you always have a set of batteries charged and ready to replace. Once you invest in rechargeable batteries, you won’t need to buy batteries again, so you will save money in the long run. Also, if you opted in for renewable energy from your power company, then you can charge those batteries using clean, renewable energy. You also save on the resources and energy to produce and recycle more batteries.
