Live in a LEED-Certified Home

When looking for a home to rent or buy, look for a LEED-certified home or a similar type of certification, like Living Home Challenge. These third-party certifications verify that the home is made to be energy and water efficient and is built with healthy materials and, depending on the level, more sustainable materials. Basically, they are built and/or operated more sustainably. The certification requires the same elements discussed here. If a home is not certified, you can also make your own assessment if it at least has a few elements of sustainability. There are different certifications and different levels. Obviously, the higher level is, the better.
